Hi blog! Today I will be telling you about our second production day.
Today, my group and I met up at Cali Coffee to start filming. We shot the scenes where Luna called Tomas to talk about the note. We did some tracking shots, close-up shots, and over-the-shoulder shots. We were unable to get mics, so we used our phones to record the audio. Overall, filming in Cali was a great experience, and we made sure to go when the sun was at its brightest.
Planning our production day
We sent the final draft to the actors this week so they could see the storyboards and commit it to memory. We made sure everyone was aware of the time, place, and schedule we had to stick to before we started filming. We had to change the camera we had initially intended to use for filming, which caused a minor issue. We had to ask our teacher at the last minute if we could check out a camera so we could record. Fortunately, we were able to check out her camera, and it completed the task. We changed to a Canon EOS Rebel T7 camera. We also couldn't get to the microphones that would function with it because we had to swap cameras. We were forced to use a recording device, which we will need to import during editing. We managed to complete our production in spite of these circumstances, and we are usually happy with the outcome.
While filming, I struggled a little bit with keeping the camera still. This was because I did not have a tripod. However, I still made it work, and I made sure to retake shots as necessary.
After Cali, we went to Melanie's house to film the first few scenes. We filmed her getting the package with the note, and also filmed some shots of her walking into her house. We made sure to follow the script exactly as it is and do some close-up and tracking shots.Reflection
We are super happy that we are done with filming because now it's time to edit! We are grateful that all of our issues got solved, and we were still able to be successful in filming. We can't wait to see what the final product looks like!
